Farrier Report: Glushu for laminitis.

The word “laminitis” strikes fear into every horse owner. We all know this debilitating condition can ruin a horses life. Inflammation and deterioration of the laminae, can cause heat and pain in the hoof capsule and the coronet band, in severe cases the coffin/pedal bone will detach from the hoof wall, rotating, sinking and can penetrate the sole of the hoof. Immediate action needs to be taken to give support to the coffin bone and prevent rotation/sinking.

Glushu provides the farrier with an amazing tool to get the foot off the ground and add modifications providing support and shock absorption without the extra trauma of hammering and nailing.

Maintaining good circulation and exercise is essential to help horses through laminitis. Glushu provides hoof support, shock absorption and cushion so that your horse can continue to be turned out in comfort during a laminitic episode. Being stable bound has been proven to exacerbate laminitis due to weight gain and lack of exercise.

“Yesterday we had a call from a customer desperate for help with her horse who had developed laminitis. The horse was in great pain and needed hoof protection but there was no way it could tolerate a nailed on shoe. Of course we were determined to help. The owner sent us photos of the horses x-rays and as you can see they made for terrifying viewing.

We met with the horse to trim the hooves and apply Glushu glue on horse shoes. Due to the Glushu cushion the horse was immediately in total comfort. Without the duck foot he is running fast and assured.
