Cracked hooves can be a serious concern for both horses and their owners. Not only do they cause pain and discomfort for the horse, but they can also lead to significant health issues if untreated. Recently, Farrier Ronald Aalders shared his successful experience using Glushu glue on horse shoes in treating a horse with cracked hooves, offering valuable insights into its effectiveness. See more of Ronald's work on his Facebook Page.
The Role of Glushu
Glushu is a groundbreaking hoof repair product that offers immediate support and stability for horses with cracked hooves. Ronald Aalders used Glushu to treat a crack on the heel. His treatment demonstrated how Glushu can efficiently provide both support and protection. During his case, Aalders noted a noticeable decrease in pain for the horse within two days of application, underscoring the product's immediate benefits.
From Ronald Aalders
“Cracks can unexpectedly pop up. Painful and bloody too sometimes.
There are many ways to deal with them, but floating the affected side like here on this medial heel, should always be part of the treatment. Here GluShu was fitted with a leather pad floating the medial heel. An aluminum plate provides support because after cutting away of that heel, the leather pad can not anymore.
Very soft animal polster is used to fill up the space under the heel. This prevents the glue to attach to the entire cuff allowing just enough downward play for the hoof wall to ease off strain on the crack.
Very happy with the result.
Choosing Glushu can accelerate recovery and reduce the risk of future complications. It is engineered to adapt to the unique needs of each horse's hoof, making it an ideal option for both horse owners and farriers. The combination of soft padding and structural reinforcement offered by the Glushu system enables horses to move comfortably while healing.
