Laminitis remains one of the most challenging conditions for horse owners and farriers alike. This painful inflammation of the hoof can severely affect a horse’s mobility and quality of life. Recently, farrier Bart Lambert shared his experience working with a laminitic horse using Glushu. His ongoing work offers valuable insights into managing laminitis with innovative farrier techniques.
From Bart Lambert:
“Hello, this is my laminitic client who is receiving a second application of Glushu.
The first shoeing showed improvement but not enough, so with the second one we added a derotation to lose the the traction on the ddft. Horse is better now but still work in progress.
I will post this horses progression on my Facebook page so please follow me for updates”
How Glushu Supports Laminitic Horses
Glushu shoes provide several benefits that make them suitable for horses with laminitis:
Improved Hoof Stability
The design helps stabilize the hoof capsule, reducing abnormal movement that can worsen laminar damage.
Reduced Traction on Tendons
By adjusting shoe placement and adding derotation, farriers can lessen strain on tendons like the DDFT, which influences hoof alignment and pressure.
Customizable Fit
Glushu shoes can be tailored to each horse’s specific needs, allowing farriers to address unique hoof shapes and conditions.
Durability and Comfort
Made from materials that balance strength and flexibility, these shoes support the hoof without causing additional discomfort.
