Farrier Review: Glushu for Distance Rider Timmy.

Timmy, a 16-year-old 15.2-hand Connemara, faced a challenge that many horse owners dread: a laminitis episode. This condition can seriously affect a horse’s soundness and performance, especially for those involved in demanding activities like long-distance riding. Thanks to a thoughtful approach by his farrier and the introduction of Glushu shoes, Timmy’s story is one of recovery, resilience, and readiness for new adventures. Thank you to Sasha de Gale for sending us some fantastic pictures of Timmy in his Glushu.
From Owner Sasha
“This is my horse Timmy, He is a 16 year old 15.2 Connemara.
Timmy had shown a laminitis episode so I decided to look at alternatives to traditional shoeing and my farrier suggested we try Glushu. On 30th January he received his first set of Glushu fronts only. On 10th March for his second shoeing cycle we fitted him all round.
Timmy is in full work 5 days a week. At the end of April we are getting ready to go on a long distance ride across Lambourn. The Farrier is coming the day we leave so they are fresh on.
He is sound and enjoying his Glushu.“
Timmy’s journey shows how attentive care and the right farrier tools can help horses overcome hoof problems and continue performing at their best. Glushu shoes provided the support Timmy needed to recover from laminitis and prepare for demanding work ahead. For horse owners facing similar challenges, exploring alternative shoeing options like Glushu could offer a path to improved soundness and comfort.
